The Sketcher Task Environment

Constraining means to define exactly the physical size and orientation of curves and to define its relationship to other curves.
Applying a constraint to a sketch allows a designer to capture the design intent.

Therefore, to create the base feature in most  designs, you first need to invoke the Sketcher Task environment.
In NX, the Sketcher Task environment can be invoked using an existing datum plane or by selecting a planar face of an existing feature.
To start the Sketcher Task environment, choose the Sketch button from the Form Feature toolbar on the left of the drawing window.
